David Glackin
David, originally from Philadelphia and a top ranked junior in the Middle
States is returning to RIRC for a tenth year. He was with All-American
Sports Tennis Camps for 14 years. Since 1986 as a USPTA certified teaching
pro in NYC, he has excelled in the teaching of beginners to top junior
players. He has been a USTA Area Training Center head coach at the
National Tennis Center.
Maureen Rankine
RIRC teaching professional, Maureen Rankine has had a long and distinguished
tennis career as a ranked player, instructor, camp director, and tournament
coordinator. She played number one singles and doubles, and led her Murray
State University (Kentucky) team to their first women's conference championship.
She was named a collegiate All-American in 1983 and was certified by the
USPTA in 1986. After many years with All-American Sports Tennis Camps
(Amelia Island, Half moon and Palmas Del Mar) she has continued in the
summers as assistant director at the NIKE/Amherst Tennis Camp in Massachusettes.
A key pro at RIRC since it opened in 1991, she is sought after for her
considerable teaching skills, warm personality and unique ability to communicate
fundamentals of the game to students of any age.
Aston Lawson
Aston attended Montego Bay Community College, Jamaica. He taught at several All-American Sports five-star resorts and is an instructor at the Nike/Amherst Adult Tennis Camp in Massachusetts. He has been at RIRC since 1994 and excels in the development of junior players.
Jason Speirs
Jason is the Adult Program Director at RIRC and teaches full time in the Junior Program. Playing tennis for Assumption College, he became a doubles player at the national level, attaining a ranking of 24 for Division II, and #3 in the Northeast Region. His tennis background includes Tournament Director for the Rochester Junior Grand Prix, teaching at The Harley School, New England Tennis Camp, and prestigious clubs such as the International Tennis Hall of Fame. Jason has worked at RIRC since 2004 and is a USPTA Certified Teaching Professional.
Anne Hobbs
Anne Hobbs was one of Britain's leading tennis players for more than 12 years. Anne reached a WTA world ranking of 33 in singles and 6 in doubles. A keen competitor with a serve and volley game, Anne represented Great Britain in Wightman and Federation Cups from 1978-1989, and had recorded singles victories over Virginia Wade, Rosie Casals, Jo Durie, Carling Bassett, and Zina Garrison. Anne will be running her own program at RIRC which includes private lessons, doubles clinics, and adult tournaments.
